In October 2019, Hebei Haoqi Drilling Equipment Co., Ltd. won the directional well project for CBM development in Zhongshan block.
In view of the use of slave directional drilling for coalbed methane in Zhongshan block, the drill bit is required to be able to match the drilling capability of the screw motor, so a parabolic profile is selected. On the one hand, the drill bit has a sufficient number of cutting teeth, and on the other hand, the cutting teeth are uniformly worn, which has a positive impact on increasing the life of the drill bit.
By analyzing the formation and drilling process conditions in Zhongshan block, and taking into account the mechanical speed, stability and service life of the bit, it is concluded that the PDC bit in this formation should adopt a smaller and smaller cutter back inclination (16°-20° ), from the inner cone to the outer cone, the caster angle gradually increases from small to large. The broken rock can be quickly discharged from the bottom of the well to prevent repeated breakage. According to experience, the side rotation angle of the PDC bit cutter in this formation should be controlled at 5°-8°.
In the end, the PDC produced by Haoqi Drilling Equipment Co., Ltd successfully completed the drilling task.
